The Identity of the Only True God

Only when the true Identity of Jesus Christ is known, the true God of the universe shall be clearly known. That is why Jesus Christ Himself says: “…Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also” John 8:19

“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” John 14:7

For the last 2,000 years the center of theological debate has centered around the identity of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Uncompromising true and pure monotheism is one of the clearest themes of the Holy Scripture. Simply stated God of the Holy Bible is absolutely and indivisibly one and alone – God and creator of the universe. This is the greatest and the first commandment of all the commandments of God in the Holy Bible (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Mark 12:28-34). All commandments, teachings or messages of the Bible should be treated under this great commandment. Any interpretation that doesn’t agree with this teaching of the Bible is categorised unbiblical or erroneous. God’s personal name and all the titles of the Deity refer to one and the same being who is the creator of the universe and the saviour of the world, he is a Just God and a Saviour. In the book of Isaiah this God declares about his identity saying, “Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? Who hath told it from that time? Have not I the Lord? And there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.” (Isaiah 45:21).

The one true God, the one who is alone, is a Just God and a Saviour.

The God who is not alone, is not the God of the Bible.

The God who has someone or somebody beside him, is not the God of the Bible.

The God who is not a saviour, is not God of the Bible.

To be the God of the Bible, He himself and alone must be both a just God and a saviour.

In Hosea 13:4 also this God declared saying, “Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.”

The saviour who is not a just God is not God of the Bible. If He is not the one true God then He can’t be the true saviour of the world.

The Apostle Paul says that, This one true God is called Lord Jesus Christ. In his epistle to Titus, Paul writes, “But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour” (Titus 2:3)

Then in chapter 2 of the same book he said, “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

“The glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ … Who gave himself for us”

He shall appear gloriously

He is that Great God.

He is our Saviour.

He gave himself for us. (He is the giver because He is the Great God and He

Himself is the gift because He is our saviour.)

Therefore the name of our great God and saviour is Jesus. There is no any other but the LORD Jesus Christ.

This just God and saviour is also Holy, perfect and unchangeable. “For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee” (Isaiah 43:2; see also 1Peter 1:15,16).

He says in the book of Malachi 3:6, “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” and that is why Paul wrote “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with

The Creator of the universe (John 1:3) has become the saviour of the world (John 4:42).

As seen in the Old Testament: Exodus 15:2

“The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.”

And prophesied in Isaiah 12:2

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”

The Lord Jehovah of the Old Testament has become the Lord Jesus of the New Testament.

*LORD God is Lord Jesus*

Revelation 22:21

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
